Skipping workouts could lead to blindness

Next time you’re tempted to blow off exercising, consider how short-sighted you’re being. Skipping workouts could lead to blindness, say University of Wisconsin researchers. After testing the eyesight of nearly 4,000 people over a period of 15 years, the researchers determined that couch potatoes were 70 per cent more likely to develop age-related macular degeneration (AMD) than the gym faithful. “Exercise improves endothelial function-the ability of blood vessels to expand and contract-so it may protect the vessels in the eyes against AMD,” says lead author Michael Knudtson, MS. Work out at least three times a week to insure your eyes.
