Assam CM Tarun Gogoi has announced a slew of schemes meant to benefit different sections of the society, he announced benefits for farmers, the unemployed, orphans, HIV infected children among others.

A rehabilitation authority would be set up for erosion-affected people, a water resource management authority and a new employment generation and skill development corporation would be formed for the unemployed youth.

State-of-the-art old age homes and orphanages will be constructed in all district headquarters, besides a special care home for HIV affected children and a financial incentive scheme for disabled living under BPL, Gogoi said.

Financial assistance of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 will be provided as nutritional support to patients affected by TB and malaria.

“For the welfare of students a corpus fund will be created to provide financial support to meritorious students for higher education and free uniform for the students studying up to class 7,” he said.

A new ayurvedic college will be established at Dhubri district and a new engineering college in Golaghat district.

“The sixth bridge over river Brahmaputra from Dhubri to Phulbari Bridge will also be constructed with the union cabinet approving the proposal,” Gogoi added.
