Kin donate organs of daughter

Family of a 15-year-old girl, who died due to brain tumor on Wednesday at Jaslok hospital in south Mumbai, came to rescue the life of three strangers, as they donated organs of their daughter to them on the eve of new year, hospital officials said.

“The donor, a resident of Vasai, who was admitted on December 23 with a brain tumor, slipped into coma after a surgery on the same day,” a hospital official said.

As she was declared dead on Wednesday night her parents decided to donate her kidney and liver, she said.

For 16-year-old Zeel Shah and 39-year-old Lata Krishnan, who were in need of a liver and a kidney are lucky enough to have found one at their doorstep.

Shah, who was admitted to Jaslok after her liver failed due to dengue, received liver from the 15-year-old girl. While, Krishnan received one of her kidneys, she said. Another kidney was sent to a hospital in Andheri, she added.

“It is good to see that the family members of the 15-year-old angel gave a new life to three strangers,” the officials said.
